who i am

Amber Shoemaker was born and raised in rural Missouri where she spent the majority of her life. She attended Southwest Baptist University and received a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in gerontology in 2009. There, she focused on drawing until she was 22 and began working with her preferred medium, acrylic paint. Amber uses acrylics, alcohol inks and a myriad of other mediums and materials to create dynamic and thought provoking abstract art. Inspired by graffiti, street art, pop art and abstract, she exhibits her dark and somewhat abrasive side as an abstract expressionist. With assertion that stems from Amber’s personal experiences, she hopes to speak not only for herself but for others who feel silenced.
She has primarily focused on commissioned works for both private individuals and organizations such as Springfield Black Tie.
